Hydraulic cylinders are unique among hydraulic components in that they also function as structural components of the machine. Therefore, in addition to burst failure from internal pressure, they are also subject to structural failure modes. Calculations can be used to predict common failure points and ensure adequate safety factors to prevent failure.

Instructor: Tony Casassa
Tony started his career out of Purdue University by working at Parker Hannifin in the Hydraulics Group in a combination of sales and engineering positions, involved in complete hydraulic systems for mobile equipment.  He then moved to the OEM side working at Tadano Mantis as their Hydraulic Engineer for the mobile telescoping boom crawler cranes products.  Tony joined Aggressive Hydraulics in 2014 as an Application Engineer and recently moved into a new role as Engineering Manager.

A variety of common and unique strategies which are used to synchronize hydraulic cylinders will be presented, both low-tech and high-tech. You will learn why synchronization is not “naturally” achieved and identify the different types of synchronization methods that would apply to an application. You will also learn to determine the best value, most cost-effective method for the application.

Instructor: Dan Turner
In 1993, after working there for nearly a decade, Dan purchased the ownership of Turner Hydraulics from his parents. In 1996, he started TASCorp (Turner Automation Services Corp), the automation arm of Turner.

In 2016, Dan started GPM Controls to handle the Schrupp Accumulator Program which he had purchased to enter the accumulator manufacturing market.

Dan is a past President and current board member of the Equipment Service Association (ESA). He is an Accredited Instructor for the IFPS and has taught courses for the local community college and trade schools as well as presented at seminars for the PA Dept of Agriculture, ASME and numerous other groups.
